HeartbreakHaikus™ is grounded in a simple truth: sometimes the best way to move forward is to honor the ache of what's been lost by talking about it, by creating art around it, by healing out loud.

Heartbreak Haiku LLC is a woman-owned, online retail business based in Northwest Arkansas established in 2024. The store offers original hearts- and heartbreak-themed poetry on home decor and personal accessories. We’re the perfect shop to find a thoughtful gift for recently single friends and family. Treat yourself or a friend to heartbreak-themed haiku poetry (always 17 syllables!) as a reminder that we all go through heartbreak and get through it by leaning on our support network—while taking the occasional salty jab at our exes and “etceteras”!
As founder and designer, I got here because writing haiku was one of the ways that I got through the end of my marriage and the first few years of my divorce. When I couldn’t sleep because of racing thoughts, I would start writing. I found that if I could “trap” my thoughts in a carefully crafted container of 5-7-5 syllables, then I could usually quiet my mind enough to get some rest. Some of the time, I just made myself laugh! That's probably the main reason I thought to share these poems in this format. To share how embracing the absurdity of it all can help us move forward after heartbreak.
A haiku—with its precise syllable structure—forces emotion into a concise form that makes an impactful, memorable statement. This structure mirrors the moment of realization after a loss: a sudden, clear thought amidst the chaos. Healing often brings with it a series of epiphanies. Working through those realizations within the structure of a tightly-crafted poem allows us to strip overbearing emotions into their most poignant images or ideas. At least, that's what I've discovered through my own journey.
